We're Married

WOOOO!!!

WOOOO!!!

The Fam

Our first work

I'm!!!! finally!!!!!! Married!!!!!!!!!!!!, for a week and a day, and we're back in Washington soon to head off to other cities to visit on our long journey back to Marietta. The wedding went as great as I could have imagined. I just want to thank all of my groom's men and all of the bride's maids for helping out with all of the details in the last week. We had fun in North Carolina, and went to Waynesville one day to look at all of the shops. We were gonna go hiking, but it was cloudy and rainy til the last day. Alotta fun though. Can't wait to see some of the Texas peeps back in Georgia (better than Texas) again. I'm just joking... but really, it is.

Philmont. . . The Untold Story

I look fine here, but that is not true.

When we got up to the top I had to lay down for an hour and nibble on crackers. I ate at the dining hall before we left and got sick from it (food poisoning?). I Had horrible stomach cramps the whole day.

We got to French henry that afternoon after hiking down Baldy in a lightning/rain/hail storm. I crashed on this floor for 3 hours and was told after that I was lying on the floor moaning and grabbing my stomach. i don't remember this but anyway. Horrible.

Random picture.

Baldy!!!

Ok, yes we finally hit Baldy. We left the night after we got off work and hiked in the rain to Miranda camp from Maxwell turnaround. We slept in the cabin there and woke up at 5:15 and hiked to Baldy Town on the road.

This is the road to Baldy Town.

Then we started our climb up to Baldy mt. This is from a meadow on the way up.

This is overlooking the meadow from the side of Baldy. Hard climb with a full pack. Nice view though.

We finally made it after 3 hours and 45 minutes and over 3000 ft. in elevation from Miranda. Sweet!

Phil-Fiesta

Yargh, Yahomarh. This was our Phil-Fiesta and if ya couldn't tell the theme was piratey. We made a ship from a shopping cart, cardboard, bear bags, and dining fly poles. The actual Fiesta was down at activities, so I pushed the cart with Mark (guy on right) down the gravel hill almost flipping at least 5 times while parts were falling off the whole way. We named the ship "The Scurvy Servy"

I used a bear bag as a shirt, grabbed a bandanna and an eye patch, and I was ready to go. Some other people went a little more extravagant. Guy on the right has a silky maternity shirt. Jenny, you could be a pirate! Richard made his costume out of cardboard(hat) and rope(belt and buckle.)

Ninja vs. pirate

I think I got him in the eye before he got me in the gut.

P.S. I think we're leaving tomorrow after work to head to Baldy. We're camping at Miranda first night, going over Baldy, sleeping at French Henry, hiking to Pueblano, and then back to maxwell ta. where the car will be parked. Pretty good hike for 3 days. Love you guys. Talk to yall on Monday or Tuesday.

Wilson Mesa and new friends

This is a picture taken from Wilson Mesa which is arguably one of the best views if not the best of Baldy or in the entire ranch! We woke up in Peublano and met some rangers that had just left their crews and we all hiked together up Wilson Mesa and out to Ponil turnaround. From left to right is me, Richard, Will, Katie, Kirsten, Tim, and Nick was taking the picture.

Next time!

Just a random shot. Still pretty cool though.

"The Hills are alive!"

So that's from Ponil ta. to Head of Dean where we ate supper down to Pueblano in record time(16:40) Where we slept then up Wilson Mesa over to Ponil where we ate lunch and then to the ta.

Head of Dean. . . Violent!

This is the view from Head of Dean camp. about 8600 ft. and those are the Spanish peaks in the distance out there (Colorado).

This is when humming birds wouldn't land on my finger.

Then I gave out a girly scream when they did.

I love the burros. . . and they love me.

Goody man to the rescue

Hello, I am the Goody man. . . The red boxes on the left are what make up the food wall which is probably the best invention of modern times. The actual food we hand out is on the right. If anyone makes fun of the Magnum P.I. shorts they obviously aren't man or woman enough to wear them themselves and are jealous of the saweet styling here at Pilmont.

I am the "fantasic fun food" king. Goo-d-loo-goodle-goo-d-goo!

The Ridge. ( Read the first post down the page)

We went rock climbing all around the ridge the day after we got there. I think we climbed every rock formation around that camp.

This is a spire that we found and I decided to climb it. . . In Scrubs.

We saw two deer that day. It was kinda wierd to see that many up there because there's no water on the ridge.

It's really crazy here. You can see it raining when it's not raining on you. Not in Georgia. It's actually been raining pretty consistently the last 2 weeks which is a good change.

An Early Morning Worth it. (cont.)

At 5:30 the sun decided to peek it's head out from underneath the horizon.

Pink clouds and bronze lakes were soon to follow.

Earlier in the morning not much was visible except for the tiny strand of light behind me. A stiff wind was blowing all morning so the fleece was barely enough to keep me warm. The Stormy Kromer held up perfectly though. The headlight was neccessary to climb up the boulder field in the dark too. Thanks Morgan.

Ooh, who is that hot dude in the middle. Oh, that's me! Wierd. Hey Jon, your scrubs have now been to the top of the Tooth and back. May I say that scrubs are awesome rock climbing wear.(Cobra's on the left and Richard is the white pasty guy on the right.) DISTURBING! Oh yeah, Will couldn't come cause he switched with a girl who had a sister comin in.

I know what you're thinkin'. You're thinkin' "man that is one sweet sunrise!" Well, you're right, it was. Getting up at 4:00, hiking for 30 minutes, and being surrounded by scouts that haven't taken baths in 10 days was definately worth it.

An Early Morning Worth it.

These are pictures of our hike up to Tooth Ridge Camp and us relaxing and climbing around there. It was raining the whole hike up, but then stopped once we got there. We dried off pretty well before going to sleep, so perfect weather for hiking.

Just enjoying the great weather! Dad and Jimmy, do ya remeber this rock?

This is Cobra getting mauled by a tree on his climb up some rocks on the ridge. Pretty scary climb with no harnesses. I think if we had fallen here we wouldn't have stopped til we hit the trail.

Ah, I don't think I'll ever get tired of this.

This is looking out of the Stockade door from the beginning of our trail. The Stockade is a fort that Waite Phillips built for his son Chope as a kinda playhouse thing. Huge playhouse.

Yeah nice views here but, I kinda prefer the ones at home

Yeah I don't know if I'm gonna be able to go hiking again this weekend cause Will traded with somebody for days off. I don't know maybe the rest of us will go do something. Cobra hasn't done the Tooth yet so mybe we'll go up there again. Hit up some rock climbing and sunsets this time.

Well, hope you guys are doing good, and I'll talk to you all soon! I will get days off again in a day so I'll tell ya what's gonna happen. Love you guys and gals.
